In 2008 zijn 130 dorpen (31 dorpsgroepen) meerdere keren bezocht en is kennis gedeeld met >750 vrouwen en >250 mannen. Het gevolg is dat meer mensen hun HIV-status willen weten, zich lieten testen of willen laten testen (in 2007 testte Bolero Clinic 1420 mensen, in 2008 3142 mensen), een belangrijke 1e stap om hun eigen leven en dat van hun kinderen te beschermen.

Een groot deel van de gemeenschap in het MVO werkgebied weet de gevolgen van het stoppen van HIV-medicatie en hoe preventie van moeder op kind transmissie werkt. Tot slot zijn (vrouwen)

condooms bekend en discreet verkrijgbaar in de dorpen, zij hebben de HIV/Aids discussie binnen huwelijken gestimuleerd.

 

In 2008 over 130 villages (31 village-groups) are visited 2-5 times, sharing knowledge repeatedly with >750 women and >250 men.

Thanks to MVO advocating, knowledge and tools, more people in the community went for HIV-testing or are willing to go at this moment (in 2007 Bolero Clinic tested 1420 people, in 2008 3142 people), which is the 1st step in valuing life.

More people in the catchment area have full understanding of the effect of stopping their HIV medication and understand how “prevention from mother to child infection with HIV” works. (Female) condoms are known and discrete available in several villages and has stimulate the discussion about HIV within couples.

My Village Organisation facilitators learning a song about prevention of mother to child infection with HIV (PMTCT) to an active village group. Three of MVO’s facilitators are positive women and one of them has recently prevented her child getting infected by HIV (she stopped breast-feeding after 6 months).

It was only until recently people were not able to believe that prevention from mother to child was possible. In cooperation with local hospital MVO organizes more education about his subject.
